The bean is just what you want for making espresso without over spending. The flavor is balanced and the crema is what you expect in a great espresso. No bitter flavor exists like in other beans which give espresso a bad reputation.

You wonder how Italian make such smooth espresso but is not available in USA. This bean can bring you the pleasant memory in Italy in one of lazy morning or afternoon. However only espresso, macchiato or probably cappuccino is recommended.

I had settled into buying Starbucks espresso beans from Costco frankly because of the great price. I prefer Starbucks Italian roast but the price on Starbucks espresso roast is too good. My daughter introduced me to Lavazza Espresso Super Crema recently and have found it to be an excellent product. It is Italian roasted and has a wonderfully full aroma and flavor. The difference things between the Lavazza Qualita Oro Espresso (Gold can) and the Lavazza Caffe Espresso (Black can). The Gold can LavAzza uses 100% Arabica beans from 2 differences countries and the Black can Lavazza uses 100% Arabica coffee beans from only one country.

In my opinion, both of them are excellent and clearly different character, some will favor the Black Can variety over the Gold Can and vice-versa. NEITHER are bad coffees, they just appeal to different tastes because of the making procedure and equipment are difference. That still doesn't make either one "bad", it just makes one variety better suited to a particular brewing procedure and to personal taste.

The excellent from result and taste that I got from one using my primary coffee making procedure. When I use a completely different system and procedure to making coffee, I prefer the other variety as well. Both are excellent coffees but one is more likely to perform better in your coffee making method and system and give you better results than the other. Properly made, I sincerely believe that both coffees are EXCELLENT! Now, please excuse me while I go make myself a fresh mug.

Not nearly as eloquent as some reviews here on the subtleties of the espresso, with my Isomac Venus it pulls a lovely, dark shot with a nice crema. A real treat. The beans, grinds smell absolutely delightful and espresso is delectable. I'd consider this on par with the quality of Illy espresso, a leg up from Coffee Bean Direct Six Bean Espresso, and in a whole different league than Starbucks, Kicking Horse Cliffhanger, Community Coffee Extra Dark. Very nice... highly recommended!

I was excited to buy a larger bag of organic Lavazza beans at a good price. While not a coffee / espresso snob, I do like coffee and have lived and imbibed in enough coffee-centric countries to have some points of comparison. This is a good coffee, but not a flavorful or very distinctive coffee. I bought it to use in a stove top espresso maker - not a pulled shot - where it did well as the base for a nice cappuccino or latte...but not exceptional. As an Americano or in a Bodum, it didn't work for me. Just strong, a little bitter...someone here mentions a lemon overtone and while I don't normally go for the descriptive terms, I think the lemon overtone is a problem for me too. It's a strong coffee, a little bitter, not smooth, lemon acidic overtone, verging on dark roast, not too oily...serviceable, but not in anyway distinctive in its flavors. So I am moving on.

Excellent BlendLavazza is a great Italian brand name and the Crema e Gusto blend is a fairly new introduction to the Lavazza catalog. I first tried the Crema e Gusto in Europe and quickly
