Great Machine For The Money

Yes, you really do need properly ground coffee to make the best of this machine. However the $ Capresso Infinity is fine for the job. This is an impressive machine for the money but it does have a learning curve. Follow the directions in the book, get a tamper that is sized to the portafilter (58mm), use some fresh roasted ESPRESSO beans and you'll be making coffee better than 95% of coffee shops with a little bit of practice day by day. One added suggestion, a ridgeless portafilter, which allows for better tamping.

Good
We received our first machine, plugged it in, and smoke started coming out of it. After calling Amazon, we were sent a replacement machine at no charge. We have had no issues with the replacement machine and it makes great espresso coffee, I think the issue with the first machine was a fluke

Our Customer Reviews
Great espresso in a Jiffy
My wife and me love this for lattes and mochas. I have a cheap grinder that I never did justice to my Rancillo but I didn't want to spring for a new one. This pre-ground espresso has been the answer.

Good price for a great product
This is a bit milder flavor and more fruity or acidic than the qualita rossa which I also really like. I would choose the rossa over this one for lattes and etc. but for straight espresso and when I'm in a mellower mood, inblu is great choice.

Another good Lavazza
Another good ground coffee from Lavazza inBlu Espresso Coffee. I use it in espresso machine, clean coffee if you can't get the fresh stuff. Would buy again.

Our Customer Reviews
The best decaf ever

This coffee is really the best decaf I have ever tried. It is hard to find any better than the Italian decafs like this one or illy. Unless of course you're the average local coffee drinker used to embarassments like Folgers or accustomized to all the overburned and stinking like charcoal brands named for an unknown reason French Roast, Italian Roast or other else (believe me, they have nothing to do with French or Italian coffee). Not to mention the local decafs which taste more like tea made out of burned wood shavings.

Excellent decaf
Normally I drink LavAzza Rossa expresso (made in a French Press), but I attempt to cut down on my caffeine intake because I have weaned my self to decaf while other decaf coffee has given me heartburn or just tasted awful, this Lavazza hit the spot. While it isn't quite as rich as the Rossa, it is still has plenty of rich chocolatey flavor, is beautiful on smoothy and not at all bitter. The only downside I have is the price tag and the need to buy it buy the can. It's a full $3 more than I pay for the same amount of Rossa. It's by far the best decaf that I have ever drank before.

Our Customer reviews

illy Coffee is out of this world!
My Confession, I've been a true fan of Starbucks. I used to think Starbucks was the best coffee ever and the many bags of Starbucks in my pantry will prove that! However, I recently received a gift of a half pound of illy Caffe Normale Drip Medium Grind and I was for once in my life, truly impressed with the quality, flavor, and aroma of this coffee. I also find this to be heartbreaking as I don't know what to do with all my Starbucks that I have on my hand. I just gave 3 pounds of my Starbucks to my mother since I won't be drinking it anymore. If you are a true coffee conesseiur then you will love illy coffee. If I ever open a coffee shop, I would be more than happy to invest in this coffee company.

Smooth and flavorful
I keep coming back to this espresso as one of the smoothest and medium-bodied but full flavored coffees I've tried. I make it in a 4 cups of drip coffeemaker, not an espresso machine, and the results are still great.
I have tried the dark roast version but find that one is too much for me. I just wish it were cheaper or came in a larger quantity. It's not the kind of price that you are comfortable making extra cups worth and not drinking them. Definitely one you should try if you have not.

Our Customer Reviews
Which is better between the Lavazza Gold or Black can variety? Well, I will brief you.
The major differences between Lavazza Qualita Oro Espresso (the gold can) and Lavazza Italian Coffee, Caffe Espresso (the black can) coffees is that the Gold can, Lavazza uses 100% Arabica beans from two different countries and the Black can, Lavazza uses 100% Arabica coffee beans from only one country.

Lavazza Gold AND Black canned coffees BOTH are:
1. Lavazza coffee
2. Made using 100% Arabica coffee beans
3. Blended from 100% Arabica beans.
4. Blended to make espresso
5. Roasted and Packaged in Italy.

Major Differences:
-Lavazza Gold can coffee uses 100% Arabica beans from two countries:
:Central America and Africa.
Note: Lavazza states that the Central American beans in this blend contributes a floral aroma.

- Lavazza Black can coffee uses 100% Arabica beans from only one country:
1. South America
Note: Lavazza states that the South American beans in this blend are sweet and aromatic more than Gold can

My Opinion: Both coffees are excellent. They have different characteristics and while everyone pretty much agrees that both are excellent coffees, some will favor the Black Can variety over the Gold Can and vice versa or NEITHER are bad coffees, they just appeal to different tastes and one might perform better in your coffee making procedure or equipment than the other one which still doesn't make either one "bad", it just makes one variety better suited to a particular brewing procedure and to personal taste.

I prefer one variety to the other most of the time, primarily because of the excellent result an taste that I got from one using my primary coffee making procedure. When I used a completely different system and procedure for making coffee, I prefer the other variety. Both are excellent coffees but one is more likely to perform better in your coffee making method and system and give you better results than the other. Properly made, I sincerely believe that both coffees are EXCELLENT! Now, please excuse me while I'm going to make myself a fresh mug of Joe.

Our customer review
Pretty good stuff
I found a these coffee at my local Big Lots. There is a case of 12 is only $10 and since I love iced coffee, I decided to try it. It is actually pretty good stuff. It is not thick and rich so don't expect a full latte flavor. It has actually a pretty light taste but it's a very good taste and very cold. It is def sweet enough and coffee-ish enough. It's so light the 8 oz in the can goes pretty quick, at least for me. I def like it enough to go back for more and at that price, I'll be buying a couple more cases, before they run out.

A super espresso machine if you follow
This is a great machine but you have must preheat it according to the instructions, use a quality bean grinder, and get a correct tamp.

I too thought the machine had bad seals as water came pouring out every time I used it. It was very frustrating the first few times I tried it but I learned other espresso experts that you need a good conical burr grinder. So don't waste your time unless have a decent grinder. Equally important, you need to get the right temperature prior making a shot. If you follow the manufacturers lead, you will you let some water through the pump and then let it preheat for about 8-10 minutes. One more step is to run a tad more H2o to preheat through the filter- then you are ready to tamp your coffee into the filter. Now run the machine et voila now you got a great cup of espresso.

Get Your Expresso Fix at Home
I had a Breville Cafe Roma, a good machine, but that one I would regard as entry level. Although the Breville had no trouble making espressos with a nice layer of crema, the steaming wand was still a weak spot. Also there's no hot water dispenser on that model. After I extensive research, I decided to purchase the Gaggia Espresso Color. Even no reviews of this model were available in anywhere, I really liked the price, the color, the overall design, and the favorable reviews I had seen for other machines in the Gaggia line. This machine is compact, stylish, and includes elements found on higher end machines like a commercial portafilter, a stainless steel boiler, and a Pannarello attachment for the steaming wand. And also I kept coming across the same brand names over and over again with a sterling reputation in the espresso world, and Gaggia is one of names list in my mind.

I am very satify with my Gaggia. I really feel that it is a cut above my old Breville. The insides of the machine (the boiler, the heating elements, the valves) are top notch. It is a very efficient machine which does a great job and is worth every penny you paid.

There is some learning curve with this machine because the commercial portafilter does not contain a pressure mechanism like the filters in thermablock systems. The requisite pressure for properly extracted espresso is very dependent on the fineness and consistency of the grind and the pressure used to tamp the coffee. This machine is all about the ritual of making espresso coffee, meaning you need to pay attention to details like prepping and preheating the machine, and minding the coffee grind and the tamp. The reward, however, is an excellent espresso that trumps what is sold at the typical coffee shop. The Pannarello attachment to the steaming wand removes a lot of the guesswork for making steamed milk and foam. The foam I have had from this machine is dense, luscious and makes my latte feel relaxing on vacation. The espressos and lattes I have had from this machine far exceed what I had from the Breville. They're also a lot better than what I get from Starbucks. Thanks to my Gaggia, I can now get my espresso fix at home (and save beaucoup bucks at the same time)!

Inexpensive but not cheap
This great little espresso maker does the trick. I love making my own mochas at home using this single shot of espresso maker, and it's great if you've limited space because we have no counter or storage space for a bigger coffeemaker.

Just a tip: if you get beans ground for espresso, it'll still sort of work, but not as well. Apparently they need to be slightly more coarsely ground than the espresso grind. Just a handy little tip that I learned a bit too late for my first time! lol.

Delighted
I bought it for my hubby as a father's day gift and it's so great. Our last elec expresso machine died after a year of no use so we went for the low tech but stylish version this time!!. We have a glass top stove, set it on the small ring on high and it works perfectly. I know you should use low heat on gas stoves but as glass top stoves are so much less hot and responsive, I find high works fine and heats at about the same rate as low to medium on gas. Easy to use, easy to clean, and FAB coffee.

Bialetti espresso coffee pot
The Bialetti Moka Stovetop Expresso Maker is the best one can buy. Unlike the many copies which made in China, this little gem to make the best coffee. The pour spout is just the right shape so that it doesn't spill all over the counter while pouring into a cup. The weight of the metal allows the perfect brew. Unfortunately, that I have heard that the company, Bialetti, has recently closed its' doors, due mostly to the competition from the cheaper brands out on the market and also due to the ignorance of the general public in seeking out the cheap stuff.

Our Customer Reviews
With Lavazza it's all about the blend

Lavazza coffee is wonderful but the different blends are, well, different. I really like the Caffe Espresso because of the heavier slightly bitter and strong but also slightly chocolaty and sweety taste within aroma feeling. I use a Mocha/stovetop espresso pot so that makes a different kind of brew too.

Caffe espresso is 100% Arabica beans as is Oro. I find the latter a bit rougher/stronger. Then, the wise folks at Lavazza start blending in Robusto beans and for those who like a super smooth, less bitter taste, you need to try these... Crema e Gusto is at the farthest end of the spectrum - 70% of Robusto and 30% of Arabica and dark roasted (usually they make a medium roast I think), super creamy, nice as Americano or a straight, milder espresso, me I don't think it stands up as a cappuccino. Next line is Crema e Aroma: 60% of Robusto. I haven't had this in years. Middle ground? That's Rossa with its 30% of Robusto and 70% of Arabica, this might be my favorite as espresso. There's a few other blends but they are newer and I haven't tried them. Amazon should offer a taster pack! Happy espresso drinking!

Are you kidding me?
I'm reading the other reviews and I tried it and I'm quite shocked!!! beacuse this is absolutely one of the best commercial coffee blends you can find out there. not too bitter not to sweet, excellent crema, delightful!
I have a Gaggia espresso machine, I drink it every lovely morning and occasionally make cappuccino to my guests, they all LOVE it too much.
Warmly recommended, light years better than the sour-greasy-burnt American coffee....

illy Caffe Normale MOKA Ground Coffee

Product Description
illy Caffe Normale MOKA Ground Coffee has a richly aromatic with a well-defined body. The moka stovetop coffee is an easy-to-prepare morning ritual in most Italian households.

Features
- Pack of two, 8.8-ounces per tin (total of 17.6 ounces)
- Richly aromatic with a well-defined body
- Moka stovetop coffee is an easy-to-prepare morning ritual in most Italian households

illy transforms the traditional moka coffee experience

In Italy, enjoying moka pot coffee is a most thing to do in the morning as morning tradition in many households. Moka coffee is easy and quick to prepare on the stovetop with the right equipment and coffee bean.

Through a six-years study and analyse by Research and Development department in conjunction with the University of Coffee and Bialetti ,Italy, the inventor of the iconic Moka Express pot, the moka experience has been transformed to achieve the optimal aromatic flavor. illy found that the best aromas are created before the moka pot begins its trademark gurgling sound, and that the ‘tail end’ is actually best eliminated because it's overextraced. By studying this process, illy created a courser grind of coffee perfected for moka preparation to enhance the enjoyment of the moka tradition.

Our Customer Reviews
Perfect espresso
The espresso is perfect, same if not better than what you get from ordinary coffee shops, and at 75 cents per shot, it is much cheaper than coffee shops. And if you take advantage of some of the promotions by Illy, the machine cost significantly less compared to machines that makes comparable espresso. If you love espresso, this is a steal! The only wish i have is that illy allowed compatible capsules of other brands.

What I don't understand is the $19.74 "original" price listed by Amazon while Illyusa.com sells them at.... That said, with free shipping, you still get a good deal from Amazon.

illy iperEspresso Capsules Medium Roast, 21 Count Tin
With the Francis x8 and these capsules you get a nice shot of espresso with thick crema. The only reason I give it 3 instead of 5 stars is due to the price. Each capsule costs more than $0.75. I think you get a better deal with Lavazza Gran Crema ese pods which tastes better to me. If you buy the Lavazza pods 150 for about $50 from Amazon each pod costs less than half of the Illy capsules. The pods can be used with many machines including the Handpresso while the capsules can be only used with some of the Illy machines.

Way better than Starbucks
!!!
I've been drinking espresso since 1983 when I was introduced to it by Signor Forza in Rome. I found out that Italians have a saying "Only women and babies drink cappucino after 9:00". What that means is that all the men take a coffee (espresso) break at 9:00. Well since I returned to the states in 1985 I have tried all kinds of expresso beans, using mostly Starbucks. I happened across a can of Illy beans at a Tucson store. I vaguely remembered the Illy brand from my 8 months in Italy and decided to try it. It is inarguably the best espresso I have had since returning from Italy.

consistent high quality of coffee bean
Illy espresso beans are my favorite of all the widely available commercially produced roasted espresso beans. This is the standard medium roast that Illy produces and it is a bit less aggressive and milder tasting than the dark roasts of Lavazza (the other major Italian brand that some people favor).

When properly ground, tamped, and brewed Illy espresso has a delightful aroma and flavor, unmatched by any of the other brands.

Granted, Illy is quite pricey, and I do not use it all the time for this reason. However, you get what you pay for. Usually, I buy my espresso from a small roasting house in the Midwest that produces a decent medium roast substitute that I do not mind using most of the time. But Illy definitely produces a higher quality bean.

One way to judge the quality of roasted espresso beans even before you taste the coffee that they will produce is to look at the evenness of color and size of the beans. The reason is that beans of a uniform size tend to roast more evenly than beans of varying sizes. Moreover, even when the beans are of a uniform size, it is important that they be roasted in small batches and churned during the the entire roasting process to ensure that they all get roasted to the same point. This is why most high quality coffee is roasted in small batches in a rotating drum that roasts all the beans to the exact same point. Moreover, since the moisture content of the beans varies a bit from batch to batch, quality control in the roasting process is extremely important. And it is here that Illy is unmatched. Just do a simple visual comparison of the color and consisteny of Illy beans when compared to any of the other widely available brands and you can easily see why Illy is the best.
